‘5 Inspiring quotes I came across’

I would like to share 5 inspiring quotes about ‘Hard Work and Determination’

“The road to success is not easy to navigate, but with hard work, drive and passion, it’s possible to achieve the American dream.”–Tommy Hilfiger

“I do not know anyone who has got to the top without hard work. That is the recipe. It will not always get you to the top, but should get youpretty near.”–Margaret Thatcher”

There is no substitute for hard work, 23 or 24 hours a day. And thereis no substitute for patience and acceptance.”–Cesar Chavez

“You can’t get there by bus, only byhard work and risk and by not quite knowing what you’re doing. What you’ll discover will be wonderful. What you’ll discover will be yourself.”–Alan Alda

“I know you’ve heard it a thousand times before. But it’s true–hard work pays off. If you want to be good, you have to practice, practice, practice. Ifyou don’t love something, then don’t do it.”–Ray Bradbury8. “I watched a small man with thick calluses on both hands work 15 and 16 hours a day. I saw him once literally bleed from the bottoms of his feet, a man who came here uneducated, alone, unable to speak the language, who taught me all I needed to know about faith and hard work by the simple eloquence of his example.”– Mario Cuomo

I’ve lost the willpower, determination, motivation and most importantly my self confidence.

Hi,I am set to appear for my third attempt of Chartered Accountancy Final exams (Group 2 is pending). This is my third attempt. For the past 18 months, I’ve been at home preparing for this exam. I’ve lost the willpower, determination, motivation and most importantly my self confidence.

I have always been an intelligent student with a great academic trackrecord. But now with these multiple attempts in CA I’ve spoilt my own record. Please understand that I come from a family that has extremely illustrious careers as well academic histories (my own motherreceived the presidents award and my father is one of the top surgeonsin the country) – I have Padmashri & Padmabhushan awardees, top attorneys, executives in listed companies in my family.I’m the only one who has failed an exam, ever. Not once but multiple times.

I feel insecure facing my family. I’ve stopped participating in discussions around the dinner table.I feel insignificant and have nothing to contribute. Will I never be able to achieve success because I’ve failed an exam?I’ve always dreamt of pursuing a business program in an Ivy League college. Have I killed my chances of being accepted into such programs? The job market is so tough out there, will anyone even consider a multiple-attempt pass CA for a good job in banking or investment sectors?

I just feel so guilty for wasting away all the love resources and comfort that my parents shower on me. I don’t even deserve all of it. I’ve just been a continual source of disappointment to them. Some days I wish they never had me; wish they had a better daughter. Someone who they would be proud of.

The best reply she has got :

Hi Pinky,I can understand your situation and your worries as well. I am aware of the process of self blaming and guilt when you fail. But let me tell you, What’s worst than failing is not trying. I really appreciate your fighter spirit that despite failures you haven’t given up,You are trying.

Have faith on yourselfand your preparations, you will definitely do well.Give your 100% for this upcoming exam without any pressure. And yes, dont compare yourself with anyone in family. Every individual is unique and so are their abilities. You know….,What’s worst than Failure is FEAR of failure..this fear consumes all the energy and zeal slowly. Dont let this fear rule over you. You don’t have to blame yourself for anything.Just prepare freely. And if 1% you could not make it this time then first TRY AGAIN and if you want to move ahead at least you wont have this regret that you haven’t tried your best. And if one door closesanother opens. So have faith on yourself, You will definitely do good in the life. All the Best.

Even if you clear this time you can have very good career & even if you give up CA you can still have a very good career.Trust me I have seen people doing good in their career later on despite such failures at such stages.I know one person who cleared CA after 10 year is doing job in a very good company & earning a decent salary.don’t compare yourself that way otherwise you will feel inferior. There must be many good things about you as a person,as a daughter and so on . Think about that and feel good.CA exam is one such exam where i have seen such struggle happenening to many.If the world or job market can accomodate to somebody who passed CA after 10 years & who had a so called average academic record then you seem very bright to me .I am not from CA background but i think perhaps this one is somewhat like IAS exam where there are uncertainties involeved& lot of very hard working & bright students fail to clear So don’t lower your self esteem for that Another positive thing to look for is that such struggles makes us a better person who is more understanding, sensitive & compassionate towards others problems…. who learns to respect every one despite a so called bright academic record or not( at least my failures have made me so ) You should speak to people who are more knowledgeable and experienced in your field and then come up with a realistic plan of action that includes plan B also All the best

Never follow the Crowd

“Never follow anyone else’s path, unless you’re in the woods and you’re lost and you see a path and by all means you should follow that. Don’t give advice, it will come back and bite you in the ass. Don’t take anyone’s advice. So my advice to you is to be true to yourself and everything will be fine.”

“Failure is not Final”

It seems that failure tends to be more public than success. Or at least that’s what we perceive it to be. We fret it, we try to avoid it, and we question ourselves every time we have unconventional ideas. But the simple truth is – no great success was ever achieved without failure. It may be one epic failure. Or a series of failures – such as Edison’s 10,000 attempts to create a light bulb or Dyson’s 5,126 attempts to invent a bagless vacuum cleaner. But, whether we like it or not, failure is a necessary stepping stone to achieving our dreams.

“How to Approach Cost Accounting”

Image

COSTING  CONCEPTS By CA SANJAY AGARWAL

{I}.  While attempting a question on cost management, it is the most essential to read the requirement of the question carefully.Image

{II}. After reading the requirement of the question, concentrate whether the requirement is related to decision-making or to profit and loss statement.

{III}. In some questions, sometimes requirement are given by number a, b, c, & so on. Then in such requirements we should always preassume that each & every requirement are independent unless & until information are interlinked with each other. Solve these requirements independently with information given in question.

{IV}.  In some questions, it may happen that all the information given in the question are not required to be used at the same time. Some information may be useful in requirement number (b) or (c) or so on. The thought on this information shall be given only when we are going to attempt that requirement.

{V}.  Sometimes much information is given in the question, but this information is not required to be used in the light of requirement of the question. We should identify this information as irrelevant/useless/ baseless and keep ourselves away from them.

{VI}. We always have to follow the instruction of management blindly even if sometimes the instruction is contrary to our conceptual understanding. Under no circumstances we have any right to disregard the management instruction.

{VII}.  It should always he kept in mind that each and every information is to be read carefully. Casual approach or idea approach plain reading is very dangerous in most of the cases.

{VIII}. If the question is silent on some point whose interpretation is required for solving the question, we should always follow the most acceptable practice.

{IX}.  Advise/recommendation to the management should be always specific and unconditional but if these appears to be some ambiguity in the information, give the advise/recommendation subject to qualifying remarks.

{X}. Presentation can vary from student to student. It is not at all a cause of worry but it has to be ensured that the presentation should be up to acceptable norms (if not the best) with working notes (only essential working notes).

{XI}. One of the most essential part while attempting a question on costing is to ensure proper planning. Before we start the paper, the entire paper has to be first read carefully so that the proper planning to attempt the paper can be formulated. Selection of right a question at right time is the vital key for grand success in this paper which can be ensured through proper planning.

{XII}. Ensure proper time management through effective planning choosing the sequence of attempting the question in such a manner so that time management may not go out of control. (For example choosing one lengthy question with some light weight question so that time spent over in one question should be set off against another question).

Since the Costing paper is quite lengthy, it is generally not advisable to target 100 marks attempt. We should target around 90 marks attempt and put our sincere efforts to achieve the same through proper and effective planning. If we are able to achieve higher than our own designed benchmark, it will be a bonus for us.

COMPUTATION OF TOTAL INCOME

COMPUTATION-OF-TOTAL-INCOME-CA-IPCC-TAX

COMPUTATION OF TOTAL INCOME

Income-tax is charged on the Total Income of a Previous Year at the rates prescribed for the Assessment Year. ‘Assessment Year’ means the period of 12 months commencing on April 1, every year. ‘Previous Year’ is the financial year immediately preceding the assessment year.

A ‘resident’ tax payer is charged to income-tax on his global income, subject to a double taxation relief in respect of foreign incomes taxed abroad. In the case of a ‘nonresident’, income-tax is charged only on incomes received, accruing or arising in India or which are deemed to be received, accrued or arisen in India.

For the purpose of computing total income and charging tax thereon, income from various sources is classified under the following heads:
A.        Salaries
B.        Income from House Property
C.         Profits and Gains of business or profession
D.        Capital Gains
E.         Income from Other Sources

These five heads of income are mutually exclusive. If any income falls under one head, it cannot be considered under any other head. Income under each head has to be computed as per the provisions under that head. Then, subject to provisions of set off of losses between the heads of income, the income under various heads has to be added to arrive at a gross total income. From this gross total income, deductions under Chapter VIA are to be allowed to arrive at the total income.

On this total income tax is calculated at the rates specified in the relevant Finance Act or the rates given in the Income Tax Act itself [as in the case of long term capital gains]. From this tax, rebates and reliefs, if any, allowable under Chapter VIII are allowed to arrive at the total tax payable by the assessee.

Time Management Technique for CA Students

time-managementI have seen many students who study more than 10 hours a day and fails to score pass marks in CA EXAMS, then they started to believe that “LUCK IS ALSO A MAJOR FACTOR IN CA”, but this is not true. If you do well in exam hall then definitely you can clear the exam.

So today i would share a few a words about ” How to do things in exam hall”. How much you studied or how much you have learned is not important, only the thing is “How much you write in EXAM HALL”.

First of all

While attempting the question paper; you have to PLAY DIFFERENT ROLES….in 3 hours (as in movie).

–     If the first compulsory question is too typical; take it as suspense (flash back).  Leave it for time being.  Let the movie go on…. going through the paper; you will find at least 40 marks paper can be attempted easily….fine…at least bread and butter is provided!  After one hour…..relax…no hurry….ENOUGH TIME IN HAND to attempt the paper!

–     Move forward…and find some less typical questions.  Solve them applying your BRAIN. At second or third reading; mind absorbs the facts given in the question.  Hence it becomes easy to solve such questions. Regarding the most typical problems….try to solve…don’t bother too much….

How to answer typical Questions:

What do the politicians do to rule the country? They ”break” the SOCIETY  into some PARTS.  Take this strategy to attempt TYPICAL QUESTIONS. Break them into some parts…and solve some of the parts which you can attempt in the available time.  At least passing marks you would able to score. To make it clear; if the question is of 20 marks;  apply your mind you can get at least 8 marks by attempting its steps which are clear to you.
